Designed by Staffan Tollgård and Filippo Castellani for Galotti & Radice, the SENSEI collection bridges Italian, Scandinavian and Japanese design cultures: drawing a red thread between rigour, versatility and functionalism. An honorific term – Sensei literally translates to ‘one who comes before’ – a respectful form of address that acknowledges the mastery of an artform, skill or discipline. A refined and balanced collection of coffee tables: wide and narrow bridges in metal, wood, marble and glass; rigorously conceived to provide flexible functionality. A group of functional-sculptural pieces, designed to be overlapped and combined to suit different scenarios.

“SENSEI’s coffee table is one of my favourite pieces in this series,” says Staffan Tollgård. “There is something reminiscent of the Torii gate in the relationship of the legs and the slightly curved, satisfyingly solid marble top.”

“SENSEI’s narrow bridge is my hero product,” says Filippo Castellani.
“It is a linking piece which captures the minimalistic aesthetics of the collection. Sensei’s bridge can be combined with every other piece in the series, linking them together physically and functionally.”
