A truly flexible workplace, the award-winning Dojo offices connect the essence of home with the functionality of the office. Situated in London’s Brunel Building, the founders expressed that they wanted the best of both worlds – a flexible, professional and contemporary workspace that reflected the start-up spirit of the business. With no room for cute, this was a project rooted in balancing structure with chaos.

We were honoured to collaborate with contemporary workplace and office design specialists, BDG architecture + design to create this hybrid space which met our clients’ need for spaces for casual collisions and cross-functional working. With 3000 sqm. across two floors, there are several places for people to come together – including open meeting tables, booth seating and meeting rooms – as well as a central hub that acts as the epicentre of the two floors.

The welcoming, well-proportioned space has a soft-seating lounge area, table tennis table, break-out area for brainstorming as well as two large desking benches. Planting and foliage provide a biophilic touch, a natural addition to this minimal aesthetic. The reception, coffee bar and lounge flow around the Le Corbusier-inspired staircase to create an enticing moment of arrival.

We opted for pieces that would have a residential, timeless, mid-century modern feel. Classic designs such as Gerrit Rietveld’s Utrecht chair for Cassina and Florence Knoll’s iconic coffee table sit alongside emerging furniture brands such as Man of Parts, an exciting Canadian collection that we used extensively in the Founders Studio.

The results speak for themselves, an innovative workplace that feels effortlessly modern and most importantly, works for its people.

Tollgard Contracts were also involved, procuring all furniture, lighting and accessories for the project, giving it a complete Tollgard approach and service.
